Paterson is stepping up efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19 with the distribution of masks and an upcoming mass testing weekend event.
Sheefa Pharmacy gave out 5,000 N95 masks Thursday and will provide COVID-19 testing for residents at City Hall Sunday.
The effort comes as the city hit record case numbers and demand for testing increases.
Mayor Andre Sayegh says Thursday's case count was over 750, which was a pandemic first for the city.
"We offer all the three different vaccines, the boosters, whether Johnson & Johnson, or Moderna, or Pfizer, they're all offered. Appointment or no appointment, we want you to get your vaccine, and of course, obviously get tested. Protect yourself, protect your loved ones, protect your community. Be a good role model for everyone," says Sheefa Pharmacy owner Amjad Abukwaik.
Residents can go to the mobile unit parked outside City Hall, which will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
