A pastor?s wife, who was attacked during church services in Hackensack, is in fair condition Tuesday.
Police say Theresa Whitfield took her young daughter to the bathroom during Trinity Baptist Church?s 11:30 a.m. service Sunday. During that trip, authorities say fellow church member Yolanda Cooper attacked Whitfield with a box cutter, stabbing her in the face, neck, chest and thigh.
Another person in the bathroom during the attack was able to get Cooper off of Whitfield, investigators say. Cooper fled, but police found her several blocks from the church and arrested her.
Whitfield needed 2,000 stitches for her injuries. Police say they don?t have a motive and are still investigating the incident. Cooper could face up to 30 years behind bars if convicted.
