A pastor's son pleaded not guilty Thursday to the beating of an Orthodox Jewish Rabbi.
Lee Tucker Jr. is accused of critically beating Rabbi Mordechai Moskowitz with an aluminum baseball bat. Police arrested Tucker after receiving tips when a sketch of the suspect was released. Family and neighbors worry police have apprehended the wrong man.
"He's not a violent person and we're not racist people either," says Lee Tucker Sr, a pastor with Lakewood Outreach Ministry.
Moskowitz remains hospitalized with face and head injuries, but the rabbi's family says a weight has been lifted with the arrest.
Tucker's bail has been set at $375,000. The suspect recently was released from a psychiatric hospital, but family members refuse to comment on Tucker's mental health.
