The Garden State saw a variety of weather conditions Tuesday ahead of bitterly cold temperatures making their way to the state.
Northern and western areas of the state saw several inches of snow by Tuesday evening, while areas along the shore only saw rain.
A convoy of plows made its way through Jefferson Township, which allowed drivers to feel a whole lot safer on Route 15.
The snow started falling in Sussex and parts of Morris County right as the evening commute was underway. The snow started to stick to some roadways Tuesday evening, forcing drivers to slow down to 15 or 20 miles an hour on some spots.
But News 12 New Jersey meteorologists say that the real danger with the weather this week is the cold temperatures. Roads could freeze overnight leading to slippery streets for the Wednesday morning commute.
Motorists are urged to use caution if they did have to be out on the roads. New Jersey residents are encouraged to stay inside as much as possible to stay protected from the cool weather.
