Parents claim in a lawsuit against Canfield Avenue Elementary School in Mine Hill Township that their first-grade daughter from Middlesex County is suffering emotional issues after she was sexually abused by her classmate.
According to the lawsuit, the incident happened in the fall of 2021 when the boy exposed himself to the girl, touched her inappropriately, and asked her to expose herself to him.
The lawsuit also alleges there were other students victimized. The suit says school officials were aware of the harassment for several days, but they did nothing to stop it and allowed the boy to remain in school.
