The owners of a pit bull that was shot by a Keyport police officer during a call, say that the dog is recovering.
The owners of Blaze have shared photos and videos of the dog, as he recovers at a veterinarian hospital.
Keyport police say they were responding to a 911 call about an aggressive dog at Cedar Street Park over the weekend.
Police bodycam video shows Blaze running toward one of the officers. The officer is seen pulling his gun and firing twice. The dog was struck in the shoulder.
Blaze’s owners are being charged with the possession of a dangerous dog.
They are fighting those charges and an order to have the dog euthanized. They say that officers should have used other methods to subdue the dog.
