Authorities say they took down a grow house in Melrose Friday afternoon and put one person in custody.

The NYPD told News 12 that it offered support to the Department of Homeland Security during its investigation into the alleged grow house at 10-46 Washington Ave.

Police say the second and third floors of the building were filled with about 250 marijuana plants. They say the drug operation has been in place for a long time.

Roberto Guillermo, 46, was taken into custody. Authorities say he worked at the grow house, but was not the leader of the operation.

News 12 was told five people lived on the first floor of the building. The Department of Buildings vacated the occupants after deeming the building "not livable." One of the five told News 12 that he had no idea what was going on upstairs. The five are being helped by the Red Cross.

Police expect more arrests to be made.
