Officials: Jackson wildfire threatening homes is 20% contained and burned 175 acres

Over two dozen structures, mostly homes, are threaten and six families were told to evacuate according to the Forest Fire Service.

The latest update from the Forest Fire Service is that the Shotgun Wildfire in Jackson Township is 20% contained and burned 175 acres.
Over two dozen structures, mostly homes, are threaten and six families were told to evacuate according to the Forest Fire Service.
Those mandatory evacuations are on the west side of Stump Tavern Road while the homes on the east side have voluntary evacuations.
Stump Tavern Road remains closed. This wildfire burning in the Colliers Mills Wildlife Management Area in Jackson Township, Ocean County.
The cause of the wildfire is under investigation.
Reminder that all of New Jersey is under the highest level of fire restrictions. In October, the Forest Fire Service says they responded to 507 incidents.
