Officials: Beecher Road School in Woodbridge temporarily placed on lockdown while police searched for fleeing vehicle

Beecher Road School in Woodbridge was placed under a lockdown Thursday while officers searched for a vehicle that fled from New Haven police.

Police say around 12:20 p.m., officers responded to Ansonia Road to assist New Haven officers find a vehicle that fled from them.

Police say the vehicle was found and involved in a one-car crash. They add that the driver was taken into custody nearby by New Haven officers.

Due to the school's location to the incident, it was placed into lockdown. Once the area was deemed safe, school officials were contacted and the lockdown was lifted. It's not clear how long the lockdown lasted for.

The driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries they sustained in the crash.
