President Donald Trump is expected to be in Wildwood next Tuesday to host a rally, and according to U.S. Rep. Jeff Van Drew, who just flipped parties to Republican from Democrat, roughly 100,000 tickets have been requested.
Van Drew made that statement Sunday during an interview on Fox News.
The rally will be held at the Wildwood Convention Center on Jan. 28 at 7 p.m. The convention center can only hold roughly 7,400 people.
Officials of the Jersey Shore community say that they aren’t used to having thousands of people in Wildwood during the winter, but they say that they are excited about the boost in tourism for the area.
Trump campaign spokesman Michael Glassner says, "President Trump looks forward to returning to the Garden State to celebrate his message of 'Promises Made, Promises Kept.'"
A Republican hasn't carried New Jersey in a presidential election since George H.W. Bush back in 1988.
More information about the rally can be found on Trump’s campaign website.
