Some residents in Ocean County are getting email notices that their second COVID-19 shots were canceled, but in reality, that's not the case – the email went out by mistake.
The Ocean County Health Department had to make the change Wednesday to locals only after the supply of vaccine from the state was cut from 5,000 to 3,000 per week. It means three things:
If you got the first dose, you will still get the second dose through the health department regardless of where you live.
If you signed up for the first dose, but live out of the county, and received an appointment, that may be cancelled.
If you have yet to sign up, you will only be able to do so with proof of residency in Ocean County.
The health department became overwhelmed in a hurry when Gov. Phil Murphy opened the vaccine eligibility to millions of New Jersey residents, crashing websites and slamming phones.
If you were scheduled for your second dose and receive a cancellation notice, or have questions, go to the Ocean County Health Department Facebook page. They have been responding to people asking on their updates.
