The NYPD says an emotionally disturbed person barricaded himself inside a Canarsie home for hours on Monday evening.

Neighbors told News 12 the man was knocking on residents' doors up and down East 100th Street, between Avenues J and K - all afternoon.

Some say he claimed to be the police, while others say he told them he was a mailman.

Police say the individual was taken to Brookdale Hospital for medical evaluation but is in custody.

News 12's Daniella Rodriguez was at the scene during and after the NYPD ESU and Hostage negotiation team worked together to get the man out of the home.
