A dog is now home safe in Morris County after being outside for nearly a day on a frozen lake.
The Parsippany police, fire and other emergency rescue departments responded to Lake Parsippany to try and get Brooklyn, a 20-month-old sheepadoodle, off the lake.
Every time they got close, she ran further away.
Some luck started to come when a neighbor and officers decided to strap a chicken cutlet to a drone to try and get the dog come back on land.
Finally, another police officer got her off the lake, but as soon as her paws hit land, she took off running through the neighborhood.
This morning, those who were watching the dog for a friend, found her sitting on a neighbor's porch and was able to lure her in with some salmon.
"Obviously, not being your dog, you're caring for someone else's, how do you tell them, and we kept updating them, but we just kept praying," said Kamili Williams.
Williams said they ended up taking her to the emergency vet and other than a small cut, all of Brooklyn's tests came back great.
The pink color on her coat is just dyed from the leash she had on all night and day in the wet, cold weather.
