A 19-year-old man, who was wheelchair bound, died in the care of his licensed nurse, officials say.
Officials say Matthew Rossi, of East Hanover, died shortly after being driven back to his home in February. They say Rossi was transported on a bus accompanied by his nurse Emelio Rivera. Shortly after the pair arrived at the home, officials say Rossi was unconscious and later died.
The Morris County Prosecutor's office says Rivera was allegedly legally responsible for the care of Rossi and neglected to perform “certain acts” necessary for his care, leading to Rossi’s death.
EMS personnel and East Hanover Police officers attempted CPR and other life-saving intervention, officials say.
Rivera has been placed in Morris County Correctional Facility pending a first appearance.
