A magnitude 2.7 aftershock had some people on social media asking, "Did you feel that? Did we just have another earthquake?"
Well, to be technical here, yes, the earth shook, but the magnitude was less than that of Saturday's magnitude 3.7 quake, so we had an aftershock. Aftershocks can be felt for days after the initial quake. Sometimes months, like last year. The magnitude 4.8 quake last April generated over 160 aftershocks that lingered for seven months until November. It seems that our sleepy little Ramapo Fault line is having some nightmares.
Otherwise, the forecast remains relatively quiet. Hazy skies are occurring because of wildfires in northwestern Canada. Distant Tropical Storm Dexter is churning up the ocean and some swell will be impacting the beaches tomorrow and Thursday. Be extra mindful and careful of undertows and rip currents.
No rain is expected in the forecast for the next seven to 10 days. Temperatures will be slightly below average for the remainder of the week.
