Number of homicides reaches record high in Trenton; 2 weekend deaths bring the year's total to 39

Homicides have reached a record high in Trenton after two more deaths occurred over the weekend, bringing the year's total to 39.
The new number passes the previous record set in 2013.
In a statement, Mayor Reed Gusciora says, “Safety will never be possible if we don't stop the ready supply of weapons that are used in these crimes. Thankfully, the police already seized more than 200 guns and 3,000 rounds of ammunition this year alone.”
The mayor continued to say, “We can never make up for the losses our city suffered this year. We are carefully evaluating Trenton law enforcement leadership and strategy at this moment. We owe it to our residents to explore every possible avenue to ensure 2021 is not a repeat of 2020."
