Crews worked Friday morning to fix a water main break in East Brunswick that affected customers once again have water in their homes.
The issue began around 2 a.m. Friday after a resident called about water spewing from the ground, impacting a number of parked cars in the area. A viewer video showed water gushing into the road.
It happened along Meadow Road between Old Stage and Preston roads, and police knocked on the doors of neighbors to notify people of the situation and to remove parked cars from the area.
Officials say some residents saw service disruptions and possible water quality issues for about seven hours.
“A pipe let loose, blew up under full pressure so now we are putting it back together,” says Mike Dixon, project manager of East Brunswick’s Department of Planning and Engineering.
The pipes were quickly replaced. Crews were continuing to backfill the hole, flushing water out to make sure it’s clean for residents.
