The American Red Cross and Trenton firefighters teamed up this month to help make homes safer in the city's West Ward.
Firefighters and Red Cross volunteers went door to door, offering free smoke alarms to households that needed them and installing the devices at no cost.
The effort resulted in more than 175 smoke alarms being distributed, helping make 120 homes safer.
The initiative was part of a community safety effort by Trenton fire crews and the Red Cross.
