NJ Transit delays, cancellations expected on Friday due to Portal Bridge issues
New Jersey Transit says that “rail service in and out of Penn Station New York will operate with select cancellations and potentially heavy delays.”
This is because extensive repairs are needed for the signal system at the Portal Bridge.
The issues started Thursday afternoon. Rail service was suspended for a time, but resumed by the evening commute – with heavy delays.
New Jersey Transit says that rail tickets and passes are being cross-honored by NJ Transit bus, private carriers and PATH at Newark Penn Station, Hoboken and 33rd Street. The agency says that Midtown Direct service is being diverted to Hoboken.
