Taco Bell restaurants tried to get back to business as usual, even as health officials confirmed a ninth E. coli infection in New Jersey Saturday.
State health investigators are probing more than 24 reported cases and the nine confirmed cases. The South Plainfield restaurant that was the source of the first complaint reopened its doors, but business is far from booming. However, a customer at a Milltown Taco Bell told News 12 New Jersey he still feels safe eating at the chain.
Taco Bell officials say recent tests show the food is safe to eat with the exception of green onions, which have been pulled from the menu. The president of the company says all restaurants have been sanitized and the northeast produce supplier has been changed. Officials add, all food in question was thrown out.
