Students at a Woodcliff Lake middle school are participating in a program similar to speed dating where they find out about different books their classmates have read.
The concept, which school officials call "speed booking," was designed by Laurence Chandonnet, a media specialist. Students meet with their peers for three-minute sessions to try to convince each other to read a book they've just finished. During the sessions, students take notes and are quizzed later.
Teachers say the program has encouraged students to try books they've never heard of, and has helped them remember important details about books.
