Some residents in Bergen County are ready to duke it out with the FAA over a proposal to reroute air traffic.
In order to ease delays at area airports, such as Newark Liberty International Airport, the FAA wants to reroute air traffic around New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. Bergen County would see more air traffic if the plan is approved.
Residents packed a hotel in Woodcliff Lake Thursday at an informational meeting on the plan. Many residents feel the increased air traffic will create a loud and dangerous environment in the neighborhood.
Other residents feel their property value will decrease with the extra planes in the skies.
All of the comments at the meeting will be reviewed by the FAA before a final decision is made.
