NJ drug rehab center to receive $4M grant to fight addiction
A Catholic Charities drug rehab clinic based in Trenton will receive a $4 million grant from the federal government to help expand its efforts to fight drug addiction.
The two-year grant will expand a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic into Mercer and Burlington counties.
The Health and Human Services regional director for New Jersey toured the facility on North Clinton Avenue Tuesday afternoon. There are currently 22 people undergoing rehab there.
“This is not a partisan effort. This is not one side or the other. This is about fellow Americans. This is about helping people the best way we know how. And not from a partisan standpoint,” says director Anthony Ferreri.
Recovering heroin addict Sabrina is in her final stages of treatment at the clinic and shared her story. She said that she started treatment after discovering that she was pregnant.
“Everything about this program is a blessing,” Sabrina said. “If it hadn't been there, I don't know what would've became of either of us.”
The clinic is open to everyone, regardless of faith or ability to pay. It is one of seven of its kind in the state.
