NJ-based company recalls nearly 275K liquid-filled phone cases
Nearly 275,000 of a New Jersey based company’s liquid-filled iPhone cases are being recalled due to reported chemical burns and skin irritations.
MixBin Electronics, based in Hamilton, manufactured the cases in China and sold them online and in stores, including Amazon, Nordstrom Rack, Tory Burch and Victoria’s Secret. The cases retailed for $15 to $65 from October 2015 through June 2017.
The recall includes about 263,000 cases sold in the United States, 11,400 in Canada and 400 in Mexico. CLICK HERE for a complete list of the recalled items.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said 24 reports were filed worldwide regarding skin irritation or chemical burns, including 19 in the United States. One consumer reported permanent scarring from a chemical burn, and another consumer reported chemical burns and swelling to her leg, face, neck, chest, upper body and hands, the commission said.
The commission urged anyone who purchased one of the recalled iPhone cases to stop using it immediately and request a refund from MixBin Electronics.
