Hippos at Adventure Aquarium in Camden are celebrating the upcoming fall season by munching on one of their favorite seasonal snacks: pumpkins.
Genny and Button, the aquarium’s resident hippos, can be spotted by visitors munching on the giant squash, a snack that ranks second only to their summertime favorite: watermelons.

Adventure Aquarium is the only aquarium in the world to exhibit hippopotamuses.
Hippos are the world’s third-largest land mammals, after elephants and white rhinos. They can weigh 4,000 pounds or more and stand up to 5 feet tall at the shoulder, according to the aquarium.
They move swiftly both underwater and on land, thriving in semi-aquatic environments. Their feet have four webbed toes that help propel them through the water.
Adventure Aquarium will host “Harvest with the Hippos” on Oct. 2, an adults-only evening of fall-themed fun that includes an opportunity to watch Genny and Button feast on pumpkins.
