Let's check in with news of New Jersey's Tony Caputo who's in thunderbolt 12 right now, Tony, where are you? And how's it looking out there? We are still in that Sussex County area, Sima where the snow continues to fall. Got about the 10 inches or so that Mike has been telling us about, we've been behind these plows. They have been working hard right now. We're passing the black forest in, uh, this is where we get into that 206 north area again here in Sussex and those, there are three plows there, there's a pickup truck as you can see it on the left and then there are three other plows in front of that that have been clearing these roadways consistently. I mean, they have been moving north and south doing everything they can to try and clear these roadways out for folks who do need to get around. We'll switch to the roof cam here the roof cam is just continues to get pummeled by the snow that continues to fall as we make our way back and forth here in the Sussex County area. But that I I to you these plow drivers have done exactly what they're doing. Now as we head into Byron Township all morning long, they have been clearing these roadways as best they can, but Mother Nature continues to do what it's doing as well and keeping these roadways covered. So stay off the roads if you can. That makes things so much easier for all of our first responders and the plows that are out here.

And there, we could find Tony Caputo standing in a snow pile in Newton. Tony, what's going on, Bud? Well, one of the ways to tell if you have plenty of snow, if you've gotten a really good snowfall is by standing on a huge pile of snow. And this is just one huge pile of snow in a shopping center here in Newton, Sussex County where they are just getting dumped on. I mean, look one pile after another after another, after another out of this parking lot because of the incredible amounts of snow that have fallen up here. So far today, you got at least two plows going. We've seen three or four going at one point here in this parking lot just to try and clear it out. Get this business open for later today and into the afternoon once the snow finally starts to slow down, but it's been coming down at a pretty good clip all morning long. We know that the Sheriff's Department here in Sussex County reminding folks to stay off the roadways. There's been an issue where an ambulance got stuck going to try and help somebody. So again, we don't need any accidents. Don't need any issues. Don't have to make it that much harder for our first responders. So just stay off the roadways if you can. But these, these piles of snow, I mean, this is great all the way up here and then you just, I'm the king of the world. It's fantastic on these. I mean, this is a great example of how much snow we got up here in Sussex County. So far today, we'll continue to keep an eye on it before you make our way around slowly but surely in thunderbolt 12 to help keep you safe. That's the latest from Newton. Outside to Sussex County right now with Tony Caputo. Tony. Come on, man, give it to me. It's fluffy out there, isn't it? I'll tell you what, you, you pretty much hit it right on the head with the snow totals as well. Mike. I mean, again, we're up there, uh, upwards of, you know, we might be at eight inches at this point here in Newton, in Sussex County. Let me bring in sheriff Michael Strata here in Sussex County and sheriff. Uh, you know, we're at your emergency management location. You got a lot of your people out there making sure everything's ok. Right now, what's your biggest concern at this point? Right now? It's the roads, um, that the snow rates coming down so fast right now, by the time the plows do a loop, they come back, roads are covered. Uh, some ambulances are getting stuck right now. Some emergency vehicles that don't have four wheel drive. Ambulances are getting stuck. Yes. Yes, ambulances are getting stuck that don't have four wheel drive. So we're trying to get out to the emergencies as quick as possible. But again, you know, it's slow travels on the road and that, that kind of goes full circle. If you will, in that, we tell people to stay off the road, if they go on the road and they get in an accident and they need an ambulance. You're saying ambulances are getting stuck, that could lead to some really difficult situations. Yeah, that, that creates a problem. You know, when you come out on the road and you get stuck yourself, now you've created a problem. We have to deploy resources to take care of you and then those resources could get stuck in it. You know, it, it's really bad and right now the roads are, some of them are impassable. We know New Jerseyans know that those who live in Sussex County are a little more used to this than the rest of us are in the state. That being said the way it's falling right now. It's still a lot to deal with. It is a lot. We're used to the snow. Um, this isn't our first storm. It won't be our last, certainly. But this is the most snow we've seen in a really long time coming down at this rate. And I don't care how good of a driver you are. You really should stay off the roads today even in Sussex County. Those totals concerning obviously the timing here concerning as well as this snow is making a mess of the morning commute. Let's see what's happening in Sussex County. Let's check in with Tony Caputo who's in Newton right now, Tony. You are in the thick of it. Look at, look at all that snow in my glory as well. Simon. I'll tell you the best investment I ever made are boots without laces, took these babies off, put the rain pants on, put the boots right back on. We are ready to go in all this snow. Look at these lights, it continues to fall down. Gives you a really good look at it. Photojournalist, Rudy Bode gonna do that slow pan as they call it in TV. Give you a look at just how beautiful it is right now here in Sussex County. As long as you're not out on the roadways, everything is fine because if you get to just look out your beautiful window, I mean, oh, it is just fantastic out here if you're a fan of snow, like I am absolutely gorgeous. Rudy Bo, come on over to the picnic table. We're at the uh sheriff's office here in Sussex County Emergency Management runs out of here as well. You know, we're gonna wait for them to bring us some burgers and some drinks out here at the picnic table this afternoon. If, uh, if we can have a little picnic, go sit down while we're at the table and see how they loan me this rule. I'm not a ruler reporter kind of guy, but in this case we figured we'd bring it out and see what we got here, unscathed snow. So we go, wow, what are we talking here, Rudy, what is? I gotta get up to look at that. Would we guess earlier if that's saying it's about 7.5 inches of snow here on this table, I'll leave it up to Mike with all that, but that's pretty good. 7.5. I mean, we're just seeing the eight right there. So we're doing all right as far as the amounts of snow that have fallen here in Newton, in Sussex County. I mean, again, try and stay off the roadway. Ok. And as I told you guys earlier back in house, we'll talk to the sheriff after 730. So he's coming up, we're gonna talk to Michael Strata about this situation. From those I spoke with inside. Everything's fine so far here in Sussex County because a lot of folks are choosing to stay home and that's the way to go when you have this much snow. We're live in Newton. Of course, this storm hitting at a difficult time making a mess of the morning commute. New South. New Jersey's Tony Caputo is in Newton right now. Tony. How's it looking out there? Well, look, it's coming down at a good clip. The wind is picking up. Uh, it's not terribly cold out for, you know, this time of year, which is a good thing when we're getting this much snow. Right. But you take a look at the lights up there and again, you can see it is really coming down nicely here in Sussex County. We are in Newton at the sheriff's office right at the emergency management office. Kind of quiet here. You know why? Because they're all out working. That's why making sure everybody's ok. But you could see in the distance there just how beautiful it looks up here right now, gonna swing you over to these picnic tables and, uh, try and get an idea of how many inches of snow we have here. We know Mike has lowered the totals a little bit for this part of our state from, uh, what he have like nine to a foot yesterday, but they kind of lowered that. But Mike will clear me up on that as the morning progresses. But I don't know, Rudy and I are guessing we don't have the ruler on us right now. But, uh, what, 45 inches sitting on top of that picnic table unscathed. Right. That's not bad. Not bad considering it's, uh, this early in the morning as well. And we still have quite a ways to go. As for the drive up here, it was very slippery and slick. There are a lot of plows out the men and women doing everything they can to keep these roadways clear. But it's just best that you stay off them. If you're watching us at home right now, you can do that, do it. Don't come out here. Not worth it. Thunderbolt 12 will keep you safe. And of course, that storm hitting at maybe the worst time right in the heart of the morning commute. Yeah, let's turn to news 12, New Jersey's Tony Caputo who's on route to six in Chester going north, seeing how the roads are looking and you see the snow right in front of you, Tony. Yeah, it's quite a drive right now and what you saw just passing us on the left and that's sitting in front of us or making its way plowing this morning. We're seeing a lot of plow trucks out here in this part of our state route 206, here comes another one coming by about a local, probably going to a business parking lot to clear that out. Passing one on our right, got several in front in front of us as we go 206 north, uh, in the, and over part of the state right now. And again, this snow is falling at a good clip. It's been falling at a good clip and we'll continue as what Mike has been telling us in this part of our state should get the most snow today as well as we make our way to Newton, try and catch up with some of the crews up there that do everything they can to get these roads clear as soon as possible. But part of that is staying off the roadways and that is the good news as far as we're concerned here in Thunderbolt 12 as we've been making our way up to try and give you a look at what the situation is. We haven't seen a lot of vehicles on the road. That's good. That means folks are staying home. That's exactly what we want to see at this point. The snow falling at such a good clip that our rooftop camera that is basically out of order right now that catches so much snow when we turn it around in the direction we're going and try to keep that wiper going. But it just gets uh overwhelmed with the amount of snow that's been falling so far this morning. So we've been sitting driving slowly behind these plow trucks. Uh I think I'm counting three of them up there. Rudy, what do you say? You see? Uh Yeah, three of them, right? So again, you can see the tail lights for the one, there are two others in front of it doing everything they can to keep 206 North. But this is a pretty good indication of why it's best that you just stay right where you are and continue to watch us. Hopefully you're watching us at home and you don't need to go anywhere this morning until this storm clears out of here. We'll continue to keep you covered here in thunderbolt 12. You that storm really about timing here making a mess of the morning commute. Yeah, let's turn to news 12. New Jersey's Tony Caputo who is on I 287 going north to see how the roads are doing so far. Tony, how's it looking? I'd say this is the roughest ride we've had in quite some time this early in the morning when it comes to thunderbolt 12 and snowstorms. Here we go. Let's take a look. This is the view photojournalist. Rudy Bode has right now from behind the wheel or dash cam. And you can see we're following some plow trucks that are out here kind of clearing out the, uh, situation for us as we approach exit 22 A we're in that bridge area right now, maybe a little north of Bridgewater. Let's get dramatic. Ready. Boom. Look at that. That's our roof camera here on Thunderbolt 12. And how about that? Look? I mean, again, the snow is coming down at a good clip right now. Now, I just got a text from a friend of mine who said he's in the, uh, Randolph area says the snow's coming down hard there as Well, so here we go. I mean, those areas that might get pinpointed, you're gonna get your, a good share of snow this morning. There's no doubt about that. And when you look at our roof cam here on Thunderbolt 12, 287 North, it's a, a good looking shot. Right? But we'll bring you back to, uh, maybe a little more of reality. And that's from behind the wheel here in Thunderbolt 12. Again, this is what, uh, Rudy Boat is dealing with our photojournalists. We're behind these line of plow trucks that are trying to do their best to keep the roadway as clear as they can. We're actually gonna, what we're gonna, we pop off 287 again on 206 north. We, we're seeing the interstate now, uh, still relatively clear for the most part, but we want to get a look at a route as well. And in this case, route 206, it's going to take us up towards interstate 80. So that's our plan right now. Eventually we'll make our way into Sussex County.
