Newark police are searching for the final suspect they believe was involved in a carjacking early Tuesday morning.
Police say the carjacking happened just before 2 a.m. They say the driver of the car had just exited the vehicle when he was approached by two men who pointed a gun at him. Those men were seen getting out of a black Jeep, according to police.
A third man stole the Challenger, which was said to be a rental.
Officials say that around 4:30 a.m. police saw the Challenger heading south on Oraton Parkway and a pursuit ensued. Police say that the pursuit ended at Elizabeth and Wilbur avenues when the carjacked vehicle struck a fence.
Three men were arrested in connection to the carjacking. Police say a fourth remains on the loose. Details about that fourth person were not provided.
