A Newark man is in custody accused of robbing two people while impersonating an ICE agent in Newark.

Police say 44‑year‑old Julio Garcia Barrera stopped his first victim last Thursday on North Eighth St. During the encounter, authorities say he placed the victim against a car, searched him and stole $500.

A similar incident happened two days later on Berkeley Avenue. Police say Garcia Barrera took $300 and a debit card from a second victim.

Garcia Barrera was arrested on Monday and faces multiple charges, police said.
