Hoboken boosts patrols at synagogues and Jewish schools after late-night threat

Police responded late Thursday in Hoboken after a call prompted checks at synagogues and Jewish schools, according to officials. Authorities eventually determined there was no credible threat.
The investigation included the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office, New Jersey Transit Police and Port Authority police.
Hoboken police said they will continue monitoring the situation and maintain a visible presence at Jewish houses of worship and schools out of an abundance of caution. City officials said they are coordinating with synagogues and their security teams.
Earlier in the day, Hoboken Mayor Emily B. Jabbour said the city was closely watching the incident at a synagogue in West Bloomfield, Michigan. She said additional officers were deployed to the United Synagogue of Hoboken and Chabad of Hoboken, even though there is no known threat in the city.
