Two people accused of shoplifting over $16,000 worth of merchandise were arrested Friday evening in Paramus.

Police say Jason Joshua Molina and Tamara Charlot targeted stores at the Westfield Garden State Plaza. Officers responded to the scene after receiving a report about an incident at the Alo Yoga shop.

Police stopped a Mazda SUV nearby and noticed that the duo had a foil-lined bag. The item, also known as a “booster bag,” is a device commonly used to bypass anti-shoplifting security systems.

Authorities say the bag contained merchandise from the yoga store and several other businesses. Some of the items included Prada sunglasses, Coach handbags and Calvin Klein shirts.

Police say the two have been charged with possession of stolen property and possession of an anti-shoplifting device.
