A Newark man is facing charges for illegally dumping solid waste under city highways.
Abdullah Bryant is accused of tossing garbage from his business under sections of I-78 and Route 22.
Officials say it cost them more than $1.7 million to clean up those areas.
The Attorney General released a comment saying, "New Jersey residents deserve a healthy and clean environment. If you pollute our communities, we will pursue you with civil actions and prosecute you criminally."
Bryant faces several charges, including vandalism and criminal mischief.
