Not every soon-to-be-married couple is looking for an over-the-top, lavish wedding, according to some experts.
A new trend seems to suggest that many are looking for a smaller wedding experience that is just about themselves.
“Could just be two people and witnesses. Very private,” says Mary Passalacqua, the owner of the
Woolverton Inn, a wedding venue in Stockton.
Some of these so-called “microweddings” may have 20 guests or less, which is nice for a couple with a smaller budget.
Passalacqua says that smaller weddings could be more intimate.
“Our staff can really focus on the couple,” she says.

Laura Billingham says that some of the microweddings she has photographed have been every bit as nice as a larger wedding.
“Just as much emotion and love,” she says.
