A new law in New York is requiring all schools to observe the anniversary of 9/11, as Wednesday marks 18 years since the terror attacks.
The new state law was approved Monday by Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
The law calls for a moment of silence at the beginning of the school day every Sept. 11.
It hopes to encourage dialogue and education in the classroom for a new generation of students who weren't alive during the attacks.
The law goes into effect immediately.
The attacks nearly 18 years ago killed more than 3,000 people.
