An anti-gay rant by a teacher at Immaculata High School is drawing criticism from across the country, and even some celebrities.
On her Facebook profile earlier this week, Patricia Jannuzzi allegedly said gays or gay activists "want to reengineer western civ (sic) into a slow extinction." She went on to say, "We need healthy families with a mother and a father for the sake of the children and humanity."
Jannuzzi, has since deleted her Facebook account, but not before others took screenshots of the alleged posts and shared them on social media. New Jersey-born actress Susan Sarandon and "Real Housewives of New Jersey" star Greg Bennett were among the celebrities that slammed Jannuzzi for the post.
According to a statement obtained by News 12 New Jersey, the school ordered Jannuzzi to "permanently de-activate her Facebook page." The school also said their investigation "determined that the information posted on this social media page has not been reflected in the curriculum content of the classes she teaches."
School officials say they are reviewing their social media policy with all staff members.
