New Jersey State Police lift commercial vehicle travel restriction
The travel restriction was lifted 5 p.m. Wednesday. Officials put the ban in place Wednesday morning due to a snowstorm that caused road conditions to become unsafe.
Commercial vehicles were not allowed on interstates that pass through New Jersey. The restriction did not include the New Jersey Turnpike, Garden State Parkway or the Atlantic City Expressway.
A mix of snow and rain caused road conditions to be unsafe for most of the day. New Jersey State Police say that they responded to over 160 motor vehicle crashes as of 3 p.m. Wednesday and over 130 requests for motorist aid.
Gov. Phil Murphy declared a state of emergency for New Jersey ahead of the storm.
