It has been nearly a month since barbershops and salons have been forced to close due to the coronavirus pandemic – this includes pet grooming salons.
After several weeks, many people – and pets – are due for a trim. A New Jersey-based pet grooming business is now offering online tutorials to show pet owners how they can groom their furry friends at home.
“They were looking at their dogs and smelling their dogs and saying, ‘We have a problem,” says Beth Paynter-Magnetti, owner of Planet Poodle.
Paynter-Magnetti says that she started posting tutorial videos on Facebook.
“We have a service and a valuable skill set that myself and my team can absolutely share with the world,” she says.
Through the Facebook Group Floof My Dog Homeschool, Planet Poodle provides tutorials about basic cleaning and grooming techniques.
“No. 1 tip – elevate your dog if at all possible…make it fun, use high-value treats,” Paynter-Magnetti says. “This is a commitment. Be consistent. Fifteen minutes, once a day.”
