New Jersey’s gas tax will decrease by 1 cent per gallon on Oct. 1, according to the state treasury.

The agency says that tax collection came in higher-than-expected last year.

This is the second year in a row there will be a reduction.

The gas tax rate is adjusted every October to ensure the state generates roughly $2 billion per year to fund infrastructure projects.
