Football is back, and local New Jersey businesses are hoping to benefit off of fans who are excited about the return.
Bars and restaurants in Hoboken are ready to welcome back fans of "Monday Night Football" as the New York Giants kick off their season.
The Giants played the Pittsburgh Steelers at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. But fans were not allowed inside of the stadium this season because of the pandemic. So, bar and restaurant owners hope the fans come out to watch the games in a socially distant atmosphere.
Bars in Hoboken have set up TVs outside where more people can sit. Restaurants around the state have limited indoor capacity.
There are some restrictions – many restaurants are asking for reservations, particularly on Sundays when football crowds will be larger. Some restaurants are also asking customers to limit their time at tables closest to the televisions so that more people get a turn.
Bars and restaurants across the state have been dealing with decreased revenue since the pandemic hit. First the state limited restaurants to only takeout and delivery, then outdoor seating and now 25% indoor capacity limits.
The owners say that they are hoping the return of football will help boost their bottom line.
