New Jersey American Water customers may notice something a bit off with their water starting today and lasting into the fall due to yearly system maintenance.
The system will be flushed to remove debris build up in pipes, according to the water utility. They say flushing involves simultaneously opening fire hydrants in a specific area to create increased water flows.
For the next few months, customers may notice low pressure or even discolored water.
The company recommends running the water until it's clear and using bottled water for drinking.
