In a few years, New Jersey high school students will have to pass the controversial PARCC test to graduate.
Students will also have to pass algebra 1 and 10th-grade English tests.
The new requirement goes into effect for the class of 2021.
Last year's results show that only 41 percent passed algebra.
Forty-four percent passed the English requirement.
