Another mall in New Jersey is getting a parent chaperone policy.
Deptford Mall in Gloucester County will now require visitors under 18 to be supervised by an adult 25 or older. The new policy will be in effect from 5 p.m. on Fridays through the mall's closing on Sundays, according to Deptford police.
A notice posted on Deptford Township Police Department’s Facebook page says this policy will specifically apply to the Mall’s Common Area. Proof of age may be required at the mall.
The notice also says this policy applies to groups larger than four persons when not accompanied by someone 25 or older. One parent can escort all of their children at the Deptford shopping mall, but one guardian can only escort up to four kids.
Garden State Plaza Mall began a chaperone policy back in April 2023 in an attempt to crack down on unruly teenagers and the number of fights at the mall.
