The Tenafly Nature Center is celebrating its 60th anniversary by debuting a new space - an aviary just for injured raptors.
The raptors in the aviary have been permanently injured, which means they can't live in the wild. Now they'll have their own home complete with people that will ensure they will be well cared for.
"They've suffered a variety of injuries, most of which were due to human activity, unfortunately. And so we have provided them with a brand-new state-of-the-art aviary that will be able to be utilized for them and future birds that are in need," explained Executive Director Debora Davidson.
Fundraising for the aviary started two years ago and it cost about $65,000.
