Some Wanaque residents say that they are opposed to a plan by a local bar owner to turn part of the establishment into a rooming house.
The owner of Flip's Bar on Railroad Avenue is asking for permission to rent rooms inside the building.
But people who live in the neighborhood tell News 12 New Jersey that they are concerned about drugs and alcohol abuse and even sex offenders if the plan is allowed to move forward.
“A lot of neighbors are opposed to the idea. They have children,” says resident Lisa Fuchs. “They are concerned about the types of people that are going to get in there, living in there, coming and going, and for the environment of the neighborhood.”
According to a report on
NorthJersey.com, bar owner Joseph Agostino had an initial hearing with the town last week.
