Neighbors have been left astounded after a well-liked Asbury Park man was found shot to death in his apartment.

Those who knew 66-year-old Gary Allen say he was a kind man who would help anybody in need. ?He?ll feed you. [Give you] toilet paper, butter, anything you need,? neighbor Dakira Parker said. ?This man will take care of you?for someone to do this, it?s ridiculous.?

Investigators and K-9 units scoured Allen?s first-floor apartment, where he was killed, for clues.

Neighbors fear Allen?s willingness to lend out money may have led to his death. The Monmouth County Prosecutor?s Office has not discussed possible motives for Allen?s murder.
