Police: 6 vehicle crimes reported in a week in Montclair

An Amazon delivery driver reported having his car stolen on Upper Mountain Avenue after he left it running to deliver a package.

Montclair has seen multiple vehicle crimes reported in a span of a week in June.
A catalytic converter was stolen off a Volkswagen Passat on Overlook Road. And a Ford Focus was reported stolen on Elm Street after the car was left unlocked with keys inside, according to police.
An Amazon delivery driver reported having his Audi Q5 stolen on Upper Mountain Avenue after he left it running to deliver a package. Police say when the driver returned, he discovered the car driving away. They say a Toyota Rav4 had been left in its place. The man entered the Rav4 and attempted to catch up to his car, but he lost sight of it, according to police. They say the Rav4 was stolen from West Orange.
On Glenridge Avenue, police say a stranger jumped into a woman's Range Rover while she was at work. They say when the woman left work, she began yelling at the suspect who fled on feet on Glenridge Avenue. The suspect then entered a Jeep Cherokee and fled.
A Mercedes Benz was reported stolen on Kipps Street. It was recovered later in the day at Avon Avenue and Irvine Turner Boulevard in Newark.
Police say a woman’s vehicle was left parked with the window open. Her wallet containing her driver's license and $50 in cash was reported stolen, police say. They say similar incidents of entered vehicles were reported over the week on Greenview Way, Clinton Avenue, Warren Place, Enfield Avenue and Stonebridge Road.
