Angry community members are demanding justice and answers following a police-involved shooting in New Brunswick.
It is the second time in four months that the community is expressing outrage over an altercation involving police. Friends and family of the most recent shooting victim say he remains in critical condition and they are afraid that he will never walk again. Victor Rodriguez's friends and relatives say he was shot five times, with one bullet lodging near his spine. They say the gun Rodriguez pulled out to chase away some would-be robbers was a starter pistol. The family wants to know why Rodriguez had so many gunshot wounds.
Protest organizers say the Latino and black communities need to work together to force the police department to change. Richard Rivera, of the Latino Leadership Alliance, says, " All these incidents are taking place in a minority neighborhood, and police are resorting to the use of force rather than communicating with the community."
