The monument, located outside the Immaculate Conception Church on Munn Street, is the first of its kind in North Jersey. It features a statue of the Virgin Mary and a plaque affixed to a stone base that reads "In Remembrance of All Who Died of COVID-19, 2020-2022, May They Rest in Peace."
Montclair had 93 COVID-related deaths since the start of the pandemic, and more than 9,000 cases between 2020 and 2022.
