The temporary flight restriction in place as President Donald Trump stays at his Bedminster golf resort is grounding model planes at the 4H Fair in Somerset County.
Young members of the Broken Props Model Airplane Club have flown their planes for more than 50 years at the annual festival, but won't have the opportunity to this year.
"Not having kind of a way to close the season out until starting next year kind of is a bummer," said Peter Bellek, Vice President of the club. "That's just how it's usually done."
The temporary flight restriction covers a 30-mile radius from the Trump National Golf Course in Bedminister, and the 4H Fair is just under four miles away.
Club leader Marshall Hayward said the club has been in contact with Secret Service to ask for an exception. He said they were sympathetic to the club, but did not allow them to fly their planes.
Members of the club said they understand the president's safety takes priority. They said if the Secret Service or President Trump would like to visit, they'd like to show them their planes in action.
