A mock disaster drill was held Saturday in Demarest to allow Boy Scouts and other volunteers to learn about emergency preparedness.
The event comes in wake of the anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, which were commemorated Friday with a national day of service.
More than 350 volunteers in attendance learned to work with evacuees and deal with medical emergencies.
Several more drills are planned for September, which is National Disaster Preparedness Month.
