(03/15/06) TRENTON ? Mercer County officials have given up hope on a film studio?s promise to the city of Trenton.
Manex Film Studios was supposed to redevelop the Roebling Steel plant site off Route 129 in Trenton. Studio officials say the redevelopment would create approximately 500 new jobs and a studio for movie special effects. However, the county is now foreclosing on the Manex property due to an apparent lack of activity and mortgage payment problems.
Representatives for Manex say they may try to fight the foreclosure. According to a spokesperson, the company plans on clearing up any difficulties with their mortgage payments. However, county leaders say they just want Manex out so they can sell the property to a developer who will actually do something with the land.
